Secrets for Empowering Any Parent Or Child

This interactive workshop teaches a reliable formula for finding effective individualized responses to any relationship problem - in seconds! This "Universal Blueprint" and its practical skills are useful in any work or home setting, with children of any age or adults. Use these practical proven techniques to improve your professional performance and client/work relationships. Then model and teach the skills to the parents you serve. Participants learn how to . . .

  • Advise, support and inform parents of diverse populations, utilizing universally effective techniques and accurate advice that dispels common parenting myths.
  • Empower parents to think for themselves and independently plan effective responses to any parenting problem, by using, modeling and teaching a parenting "plan" families can individualized for their needs.
  • Teach/advise parents in the use of 15 parenting skill areas. Each skill set may include up to a dozen individual techniques they can use/model/teach to parents.
  • Improve professional relationships with parents and children, by using, modeling, and teaching the skills in all human relationships.

Home Study Program for Parents


This home study involves:

 

  • Reading The Parents Toolshop®: The Universal Blueprint for Building a Healthy Family book. ($24.95)

  • Completing and submitting the practice exercises at the end of each chapter. For your convenience, we'll send each chapter's exercises to you by e-mail so you can simply reply to each one, type in your answers and send them. When you order the home study program, choose the age range of your child and you will only complete the practice exercises that are relevant for that age range.

  • Complete and submit a final review (about 50 questions).

  • Receive a "Graduation" certificate. Now you are a Parents Toolshop® Graduate!

T.I.P.S. Teleseminar Series (for parents of children ages 1-18) 8-week evening series (see flyer and/or agenda)

It’s the same content, agenda and format as the live T.I.P.S. classes. The only difference is we connect via conference call! Unlike boring tele-seminars, where you passively listening to someone lecture...

This call is Live and Interactive. Each week, here’s what we’ll do:

  • Before each call, we’ll read a couple chapters in The Parents Toolshop® book. Whenever a visual teaching method would be helpful, you’ll get a link to an on-line video clip from a live class.
  • During the call, we’ll discuss what we read, give you an opportunity for Q&A clarification, and practice the practical language & action tools we learn.
  • BONUS: Jody will stay an extra ½ hour to offer personalized advice. Other parents are encouraged to stay, too, to give and receive support and ideas.

When: 8 Tuesdays, 4/8/08 to 6/3/08 (no class 4/22), 7-9 p.m. Eastern (6p Central, 5p Mountain, 4p Pacific) + optional ½ hour FREE Brainstorming Bonus session each week!

In-Person Professional CEU Workshops

Social Workers, Counselors and MFTs can earn the following CEUs
for attending any of the Parenting programs offered in the South Dayton area:

  • CFLE: Approved for Continuing Education Credits for the Certified Family Life Educator program through the National Council on Family Relations. This training offers up to 17 contact hours, depending on the format (how many sessions, weeks or hours) and resulting total number of contact hours.

  • Ohio Social Worker, Counselor and MFT Board has approved this training for  up to16 clock hours (depending on the format).

  • up to 16 clock hours for Early Childhood Educators and Foster parents, depending on attendance.

Meet the special needs of parents with limited abilities by learning effective intervention strategies, which parenting skills these parents need to learn and which parenting models/curricula teach these skills in formats compatible with these parents' needs.
